About

The hand
behind it.

I'm Bob Schell — a Houston graphic designer who's spent twenty years making work that carries across a room, a screen, or the side of a moving van.

Twenty years in, the job hasn't changed: make the message land fast, and make it look like nothing else in the pile.

I've designed brand systems, print, packaging, logos, campaigns and environmental graphics for clients ranging from city agencies and public-health departments to universities, restaurants and national consumer brands. A recruitment campaign that has to reach an entire city. A die-cut mailer that has to survive a trade-show floor. A vehicle wrap that has to read at 40 miles an hour. Different problems, same instinct — figure out what the format demands, then push the color, type and layout until it can't be ignored.

I work hands-on from concept through production — color, type, layout and the messy press-ready details that make or break a job on press day. I like problems where the format itself is part of the puzzle: a shaped mailer, a four-sided vehicle wrap, a packaging line that has to hold together across a dozen SKUs.

Based in Houston, Texas. Available for freelance and project-based work.

How it works

Process

01

Brief & discovery

What's the format, who's the audience, and what does this piece have to survive — a scroll, a windshield, a trade-show floor?

02

Concept & system

One strong idea, built to flex — across sizes, languages, and channels — rather than a one-off layout.

03

Design & refine

Color, type and layout pushed until it reads instantly, with rounds of feedback baked into the schedule.

04

Production-ready delivery

Press-ready files, spec'd and proofed — die-lines, bleeds, color builds and all the details that keep a print run on schedule.
